ABOUT THE CLUB

Newburn Amateur Swimming Club (ASC) is based at Outer West Swimming Pool in Newcastle upon Tyne. Within our squads we have National Age/Youth winners and finalists, and we compete at County, District and National levels, including various open and graded meets through-out the year.
The club is able to provide opportunities for those who wish to swim for fitness and fun, but the clubs ultimate aim is to help swimmers maximise their potential in competition and to gain national and ultimately international honours.
Newburn ASC employs part time coaches to provide structured teaching and coaching facilities for a variety of abilities and ages. In addition the club is supported by a number of volunteers, who organise all of the galas and trips that our swimmers participate in, including the all of the administrative tasks involved. In order to do this, the club raise a lot of money throughout the year including generous support from sponsors such as Lloyds TSB, and Sinton's Solicitors.
The club operates on a framework of a recognised constitution, the requirements of which state that an elected committee manages the finances and club activites. You can get more information on the activities of the committee including a list of our current Management Committee via the committee link above.
CLUB HISTORY
Newburn Swimming Club can trace back its origins back to the Arthur’s Hill Club at the end of the 19th Century. Since the building of Denton Park Pool (now known as Outer West Pool) in 1970, Newburn has enjoyed many successes in both local and national competitions and has now grown into a highly competitive club with links to Ponteland, Morpeth and Tynedale Swimming Clubs.
